You are Alex Mercer. What exactly that means is initially unclear because this is a man who has lost his memory, but awoken in a morgue to a world in which he possesses untold power. A viral outbreak has claimed Manhattan, forcing the island into a military quarantine. The infected citizens are undergoing radical, monstrous changes — none more drastic than Alex himself. This anti-hero finds himself with the ability to shape shift and absorb other beings. As the most powerful being on a closed island, the entire city is …

SEGA’s US blog recently reported that Obsidian’s upcoming modern day espionage RPG, Alpha Protocol, will be ready in time for an October 6th release in North America.
An interesting tactic releasing the new IP in what is shaping up to be another ridiculously busy fall period and we’re hoping that another promising IP doesn’t take a beating in the sales department because of it. Were lessons not learnt last year? Apparently not.
No word yet on the European release date but we’ll we’ll work on the assumption that it will hit European …
Epic’s Gears of War 2 has just received its highly-anticipated fourth Title Update. The new update not only adds experience to Horde mode, but also fixes a variety of bugs, according to the update notes on the Gears forums. Aside from fixing some issues with the new cringe-inducing smoke grenades, the new update also tweaks the Wingman match type, doing away with some of the issues involving weapon spawning and a particularly nasty exploit where players could get credit for two kills while only killing one opponent.
Hopefully, this will fix …
Do you want more Grand Theft Auto? Well, that’s what Todd Mitchell, analyst for Kaufman Bros. Equity Research wants. Mitchell stated that he’s anticipating two more downloadable GTA IV episodes to launch after The Ballad of Gay Tony. “It’s been indicated to me that would be the case,” he said. Additionally, with Microsoft’s exclusivity deal covering only two episodes, these DLC add-ons may also appear on PS3.
In addition to new GTA IV episodes, the analyst believes GTA V will debut some time in the 2011 fiscal year. The only reason …
Four hours ago Major Nelson tweeted that Battlefield 1943 would be coming to Xbox LIVE Arcade next week (July 8th) for 1200 points.

According to Shock Till You Drop, the Resident Evil movies are getting a fourth installment in Resident Evil: Afterlife. A supposed internal memo at Sony Pictures seems to point to a September 17, 2010 release. Of course, this isn’t the first time we’ve heard about a fourth Resident Evil movie, so we’re considering this rumor fairly credible.
Do we really want another Resident Evil movie, though? Hasn’t Milla Jovovich beaten up enough zombified dogs and dudes in rubber suits?
Following up on earlier reports that Valve won’t leave Left 4 Dead to die an early death, the company stated today that there should be an Left 4 Dead DLC announcement before the end of summer. A company spokesperson also told CVG that about eight or nine months from now, when L4D2 has released and people see the continued support for L4D, they may finally understand the method to the madness.
Here’s a rather interesting game from a small Russian developer. Currently without a publisher, U-Wars is a third-person shooter that takes place primarily underwater. Players will still be able to duck behind cover, but the mechanic gets an interesting twist in the absence of gravity. With supposedly destructible environments, there’s a lot of potential in the game’s combat: imagine ducking behind cover, thrusting up, and shooting some harpoons at enemies below. If done properly, the underwater setting offers the potential for a lot of fun.
Underwater combat isn’t entirely new, as …
Fable 3 is fast becoming Microsoft’s worst kept secret, and with Forza 3 now officially announced, I suppose they needed something to fill that void.
Following on from Johnathan Ross confirming on Twitter that he’ll play a part in Fable 3, this time, we have another slightly bizarre Fable 3 referencing in a newlyweds listing in the NY Times of all places.
The piece congratulated Joshua Atkins, “the lead game designer for Fable III, a video game series produced by Lionhead Studios in Guildford, England.” Now seeing as Fable 2’s Lead Game …
